Enjoy Healthy, Delicious Tea Anywhere

Legend has it that sometime around 2800 B.C. Chinese emperor Shennong discovered tea when leaves from a nearby tree blew into a bowl of hot water. He praised the resulting drink for its pleasant aroma, refreshing taste, and restorative qualities. In the thousands of years since, tea has become a daily beverage for millions of people around the world all drawn to the mental, physical, and social benefits of a fresh brewed cup of tea.

A cup of premium organic tea can be many things: a morning pick-me-up, an afternoon escape, a ritual, a cultural experience. And now, thanks to Cusa Tea’s innovative new Cold Steep Technology, a delicious and rejuvenating cup of premium tea, free of chemicals, additives, fillers, or excess sugars, can be INSTANT! Serve it hot or serve it iced, with Cusa Tea, you can enjoy a perfectly brewed cup of hand-selected, premium organic tea in seconds. Quick, packable, tasty, Cusa Tea is for rushed mornings, business trips, outdoor excursions or anytime you might need a little boost or soothing refreshment in a hurry.

Our Premium Teas

Sourced only from the finest organic tea plantations in Asia, our teas are hand selected for their quality, both in cultivation and production. Much of a tea’s character comes from the sun-drying process when it is left out in the open for to oxidize and turn into Green Tea, Black Tea, or Oolong Tea for example. By sourcing from smaller farms in remote valleys away from sources of pollution like busy roads and other development, we can reduce exposure to pollution and heavy metals that can contaminate other teas (see more on that below). After drying, we select the finest leaves for our Cold Steep process. Like cold brewing, Cold Steeping allows us to “brew” the tea over 8 hours and extract all the goodness from the leaves without destroying anything with high heat or extreme cold technologies like most other “instant” teas you may have tried. Our #1 comment from customers is “This doesn’t taste like instant tea!”

Cold Steep Technology

When we founded Cusa Tea, we had one goal: create an instant tea that doesn’t taste like an instant tea. We wanted to create something that retains all the flavor and benefits of regular cup of premium organic loose leaf tea, but make it available to you in three seconds. However, the available technology behind existing instant beverage products damages the quality of teas either through over-brewing with too much heat (think overcooked spaghetti) or too aggressive dehydration methodologies requiring extreme cold temperatures. After nine months of new development and trial and error, we discovered our Cold Steep Process. Cold Steep Technology uses room temperature water and pressure to extract all the flavor and maximum goodness from our hand-selected teas. From there, we vacuum dehydrate the cold brew, a much gentler method of dehydration, to concentrate the tea into crystals that instantly dissolve in hot or cold water. The result: a delicious, restorative, enjoyable cup of premium organic tea that can be made in seconds. It’s the next evolution in the thousand-year-old tradition of tea. HOORAY SCIENCE!

No Toxic Heavy Metals Commonly Found in Tea

We had our teas tested specifically for toxic heavy metals because of California Prop 65 legislation, and from having come across article after article highlighting the pesticides and harmful toxins that teas can contain.

Although we firmly believe being transparent with consumers is the right thing to do, we also want to educate Cusa Tea customers about why our innovative technology - and the world’s first premium organic instant tea - can be trusted. Before Cusa Tea, the patented cold-steep, evaporative dehydration process we use didn’t exist for tea. We use 100% USDA organic tea, our cold-steep technology, and a membrane filtration brewing step, so you can be comfortable that our teas contain zero heavy metals or pesticides.

Commitment to Sustainability

We're committed to reducing waste and providing sustainable options for our customers. One of the things that makes Cusa Tea a great choice is the environmental responsibility that goes into the production of our tea. Not only do we buy premium, organic green and black teas, but we also offer tea drinkers the chance to consume their tea without using a tea bag. (Read more about why you should consider avoiding them anyway.)

As much as we possibly can, we use recyclable and compostable shipping and packaging supplies. We've never purchased packaging fillers - we rely on the our friends and family to collect and donate their own leftover packaging fillers to be used again. Our office composts and lives by a minimal waste policy.

In full transparency, our final obstacle is our sachets. We're still looking for a 100% sustainable, preferably compostable material that will stand up to the demands of backpacking, camping and active tea drinkers while preventing even the smallest amount of humidity or moisture to interact with our tea powder. We welcome suggestions on solutions we should consider - please email support@cusatea.com if you have one to share!
